-A range of attractive walking trails are on the hotel doorstep. Enjoy the promenade path which has been extended round the lake as far as Torbole . It is a traffic-free 45 minute walk with spectacular views. There is pleasant walking around Arco, an old spa town which is situated 3kms from Riva. There are more demanding hikes in the wooded mountain trails among the olive trees of Mount Brione. and a visit to the spectacular Varone waterfalls and rocky gorge is a must. Climb up to the ruined fortress and chapel of Santa Barbara, set on a hillside and boasting superb panoramic views over the lake.

-Within easy reach of Riva by boat or local bus is the lakeside town of Malcesine with Monte Baldo, a unique botanic garden (reached by cable car) with many species of rare flowers and a rich variety of fauna and flora. There is also a small arboretum in nearby Arco which is worth a visit.


-Most forms of watersports are catered for and there are facilities for sailing, boating and pedaloes. This area is one of the best in Europe for windsurfing. There is an excellent sports centre with swimming pool and children's pool, tennis and squash courts and children's play area. Off road cycle routes have been opened linking Riva and Torbole with Arco and Varone.
